Ephesians 37:1-14

Dry Bones

The church has always concluded that the Valley of Dry Bones refers to the lost souls of the world. While this may be true at a glance, when we delve into the meanings of the scripture, we see that this is not entirely true. I will break things down for you, but I encourage and implore you to do your own research into the context of this scripture.

It is important to first learn about who this scripture was directed at. We would like to say it is directed at the church, and in a way I believe it is. However we must look at a later verse in the scripture to understand the truth. In verse 11, God tells Ezekiel that the dry bones are the whole house of Israel, but what does this mean? The term "Children of Israel" refers to all people of Israeli decent, and since the gospel and salvation has been extended to the gentiles, all who come to a saving relationship with Jesus Christ falls under this title as well. So there, we see that the dry bones does not necessarily mean lost souls, it is referring to the "dry bones" in the children of Israel, namely the Israelis and Christians.
